New 2013 Honda Accord Spy Shots Are Even More Revealing

Recently, the first spy shots were snapped of the upcoming 2013 Honda Accord production prototype. And seeing as how much of the next-gen mid-size car's design was already shown off through a coupe concept at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, we were more than a little confused as to why Honda covered the production prototype in automotive camouflage.

Today, we can tell you that new round of spy shots have revealed why Honda chose to cover up the new Accord so rigorously. The new shots reveal one very interesting detail: we weren't just looking at the 2013 Honda Accord before... we were looking at the 2013 Honda Accord Plug-In.

The Accord depicted in the new series of shots features what at first glance appears to be a gasoline tank in front of the driver door. And since the actual gas tank is clearly where it belongs in the shot (in back of the left passenger door), it's clear that what we're actually looking at is a covered electrical plug.

What does this mean for the all-new hybrid? It could mean that we're looking at a same-day release both the next-gen Accord and its plug-in sibling. Previously, it had been speculated that the Accord Plug-In might not be released at the same time as its pure-gasoline counterpart. So to see that Honda is already testing the plug-in is an uplifting sign.

And that's a prospect that everyone here at DCH Gardena Honda is quite thrilled about. That said, we invite you to stay tuned for more news and updates on the 2013 Accord as everyone here at 15541 South Western Ave. is dedicated to keeping you informed.
