New Honda Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan to Make U.S. Debut in New York

The 2016 New York International Auto Show kicks off this Wednesday, and this morning Honda issued a press release announcing an exciting arrival for the occasion. Featuring the most available technology available in a fuel cell vehicle (FCV), the all-new U.S. spec Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan will go on sale in select markets before the end of the year.

Replacing the outgoing FCX Clarity, the Clarity Fuel Cell sedan sports a low-slung, wide body with sleek lines. Available paint schemes include black, white, and a signature red. The comfortable, lounge-inspired interior features intuitive controls and an 8-inch touch screen display audio system with in-cabin support for smartphone connectivity.

The fuel cell stack delivers a power density increase of 60 percent, allowing it to be 33 percent more compact than its predecessor. This allows for a larger cabin that seats five passengers comfortably. Honda's Sensing suite of driver-assistance technologies includes Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

"We're pleased to be able to offer this first look at the U.S. version of the Clarity Fuel Cell sedan in advance of its market arrival later this year," said John Mendel, executive vice president, Automobile Division, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The Clarity Fuel Cell is the first in an expanding portfolio of advanced electrified vehicles from Honda that will create a new pillar in our product lineup."
