Honda Announces Arrival of 2017 Civic Hatchback

It’s been over a decade since the Honda Civic was available in hatchback guise on U.S. shores, and that’s something that enthusiasts and fans of the brand have demanded to change. When the Japanese automaker unveiled its plans for their compact’s tenth generation in 2015, however, a hatchback was on the docket. Now, it’s been unveiled and is slated for a U.S. street date this November.

Just because this is the Civic’s first U.S.-offered five-door in a hot minute doesn’t mean that Honda plans to anonymously slide into the hatchback game. They’ve come out swinging, offering the car with the same styling that has marked the tenth-generation sedan. The roof line in back is a bit higher, to accommodate what the automaker claims will be class-leading interior volume. For motive force, two versions of the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine are available: one offering 174 horsepower, and the other offering 180 horsepower.

Arriving later on this autumn, the Civic hatchback will bring a new level of versatility to the brand’s stable. To learn more about the Civic, or other models, contact our Honda dealership in Gardena, CA at your convenience.
