2018 Honda Accord Gets New Engine & Transmission Options

The new 2018 Honda Accord has been reimagined, reconfigured, and redesigned inside and out. This new Accord is less sedan and more fastback, which is a delightful change of pace for Honda. What's more, the 10th generation Accord is available in both continuously variable and manual transmission options. That's right. You heard us. In addition to a CVT, there will be a real three-pedal, manual-transmission option available for the 2018 model year. Let that sink in, #savethemanuals crowd.

2018 Accord Powertrain Overview

The new Accord comes with two available engine choices. The first is a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine making 192 horsepower and lb-ft of torque. The larger engine option puts out 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.

There are three available transmissions in the 2018 Accord. On 1.5-liter-engine equipped models, buyers can choose from either a CVT or, if they choose an Accord Sport, an optional six-speed manual. On 2.0-liter-engine equipped models, they have their pick of either a 10-speed automatic or the same manual offered on the 1.5-liter-equipped Accord Sport.
