  • Great Car- Be mindful of climate/temp

I want to set the record straight. Almost every review on KBB states this car gets worse MPG than advertised. When I was purchasing this car, the dealer informed me that they don’t sell a lot of hybrids in the Midwest, as the climate doesn’t do the cars a lot of favors. I’ve always wanted a hybrid/EV and the price was right on the Accord Hybrid EX. I purchased in Oct. when the weather was getting cold, and the car only got ~37 mpg. After some testing, I found that the heating requires massive amounts of battery, and the cold weather also makes the battery hold and discharge the batter less efficiently. As soon as spring hit, I’ve been getting as high as 50.5 mpg as a tank average! I got around 500 miles before filling up, and the gas light hasn’t even turned on. This is a fantastic vehicle, but you have to be mindful of where you live, and what the weather is like. This car would be perfect for Hawaii or a coastal city that sees stable, >60 weather year round. Hope this helps clear up the issue of people reporting lower than expected mileage.
  • You pay a price for being green...

I'm a big person - 6'2". My height makes it harder for me to get into and out of cars. Once I'm in, I can be comfortable in even a Toyota Corolla, but access and egress are torture. I'm also at an age where contorting my neck to clear the roof while entering and exiting the car can be really problematic. So my first choice, when car shopping, was a full-size SUV or a mini-van. Unfortunately, no manufacturer I know of makes a hybrid mini-van (and how stupid is that?). So I ended up deciding between a Toyota Camry hybrid and the Honda Accord EX hybrid. Obviously, I chose the latter, or I wouldn't be writing this review... Things I like about my new Accord hybrid include: 1. Fantastic fuel economy 2. Cool-looking power transfer graphics 3. Familiar controls since we already own a Honda Odyssey 4. Smooth ride 5. Good pickup 6. Quiet in the cabin 7. Braking is progressive and solid-feeling 8. Impossible to tell when gasoline engine starts & stops 9. Good steering feedback 10. Reasonably comfortable driver’s seat But I can already tell you that there are bunch of things I don't like as well: 1. Low-slung chassis makes it difficult to enter and exit 2. No memory function for driver’s seat 3. Back-up beepers are extra - A LOT extra 4. Side-look rear back-up radar is unavailable at any price 5. Automatic rear collision-avoidance braking is unavailable at any price 6. Navigation is unavailable on this EX-trim model at any price 7. Full-stop adaptive cruise is unavailable at any price (although adaptive cruise sans full-stop is standard) 8. Online prices for dealer-installed options don’t include labor 9. Blind-spot warning beepers aren’t loud enough to be readily heard 10. Rear-view mirror is too narrow and seriously restricts side and rear viewing 11. Only two cupholders (really? Really?) 12. Power sunroof whether you want one or not 13. Still too much black in the cabin (makes the car way too hot when parked in the sun) 14. Lingering feeling that I paid too much 15. Any car that lacks navigation should at least include a cell-phone holder - this one doesn’t 16. Real Weather-Tech floor-liners should have been included as a factory option Now before you tell me that I could have gotten some of those safety features by buying a higher trim line, you're right. BUT I'd have also had to buy a LOT of unwanted "luxury" features that I DIDN'T want to get the few safety features I did. When are car manufacturers going to make EVERY safety feature they offer an option package on ALL their models? As of now, no manufacturer does. Despite the missing safety features, I could not find any reasonably priced hybrid that had any better, so this is it. Overall, Honda has declined precipitously over the past decade regarding the ergonomics of their vehicles (EVERY model). Honda is also stuck in the past thinking that to buy safety, you should also have to buy luxury packages. But if you're willing to sacrifice some safety features and ergonomics, the Honda Accord Hybrid EX is a reasonable deal - not a great one, but you pays your money, you takes your choice.
  • Great gas milage car

The car gets about 37 mpg on the highway at 75 mph. That is 20% higher than my 29 mpg with my 2014 v6 accord. I get 45 mpg driving around town which is 45 % higher. I learned to use the paddles enhance the milage fast starts decreases milage too
